Postcard From Cornwall

We've just got back from a week's break in Cornwall. I love the deserted beaches you find when visiting out of season. This is the view from Tate St Ives last Tuesday just before the wind blew us indoors in search of something warming :)

    1. Hi Janice - it was lovely. You would have enjoyed Tate St Ives too. Sadly we didn't have time to visit the Barbara Hepworth garden as well - we'll just have to go again!

  2. Aw, happy memories! My mum comes from St Ives and we spent every school holiday on that very beach :)

  4. Love out of season beaches, more possibly than in the summer! And congratulations on the short listing in the GMG awards too btw!

  5. Something quite magical about visiting the coast at this time of year. Himself and I honeymooned in December in Anglesey - miles of beaches completely to ourselves :) Have not been to St Ives since I was in my teens but remember it well and would like to return.

  6. Deserted beaches are something I love. I can feel a Christmas Day walk coming on. Will probably be packed!!

  7. One of our favourite holiday spots. Know it well. Hope you stayed somewhere warm!

  8. Lisa - you grew up in St Ives! I'm deeply envious.

Petoskystone & Donna - you'd love it there.

Elizabeth - me too, that's why we decided on a last minute break :)

Anna - it was my first visit. I can heartily recommend the train trip from St Erth to St Ives. No problems parking, fantastic scenery the whole way (with 15 herons along one short stretch of the Hayle estuary) and a wonderful timewarp cafe at St Erth Station!

Dobby - a Christmas Day walk where you live would be wonderful.

Helen - we had a very cosy cabin tucked in the grounds of a huge estate which had the remains of a Victorian plant hunted garden. We even had a sauna in the cabin! Not my usual style of holiday accommodation (think cottage with dodgy plumbing which NAH fixes at some point), but I could get used to it!

  9. Perfect time to visit Cornwall, particularly St. Ives, which gets crazy from April onwards! Hope you are feeling refreshed and ready for Christmas.

  10. Janet - I'm so refreshed, I'm having difficulty in getting to grips with Christmas!
